Product Spotlight: Black Stainless Hose

Roadrunner Performance has a new product: Black stainless steel braided hose.

Its specifications are the same as stainless steel braided hose and comes in seven different sizes. Stainless steel braided hose is colored black via an electroplating process.

The black stainless steel braided hose, which is the same as the regular stainless steel braided hose except for the color, comes in several sizes, including:

● SS10BK

● SS12BK

● SS16BK

● SS20BK

When ordering it, order it just as you would the regular stainless steel braided hose.

Stainless steel braided hose – the regular and the black – is made with a reinforced chlorinated polyethylene synthetic rubber lines. The inner braid is made from nylon. The hose is excellent for use with fuel systems, including E85; oils, methanol, vacuum hoses and coolant lines. The hose may be purchased in 25-foot and 50-foot lengths. You may cut the hose to the length you need and add hose fittings, just as you would with regular stainless steel hose. The hose is good for fluids with temperatures from -40 degrees C to 150 degrees C.

The electroplating process uses electrical current to reduce metal cations (a metal with a positive charge) to create a metal coating – in this case, a black metal coating – on the electrodes in the stainless steel hose. The result is a black metal coating that sticks to the stainless steel hose and gives your applications a racy look, especially for those who like the “blacked out” look.
